Business update

Okay, it’s been a fair while since I last posted, mainly because I’ve hit a state of limbo. More on that under the cut.

I did however make a thing – a replacement robe for Empire, in Caron Cake’s Rainbow Sherbet colours, inspired by a couple of freebies I got as part of a magazine subscription.

So, business-wise, it’s become apparent that my current model isn’t working too well. I have the odd favourites on Etsy, but whenever I advertise pre-made items (or offering to commission said items) I get little response – the bag I made happened after a Facebook enquiry on a post about drink holders.

This leads me to the conclusion that I need to change the way I advertise my products – or rather, commissioning services. How I’ll do that I don’t know yet. What I do know is that at some point I’d like to extend to web services, but that’s more a long-term aim.

Something else I’ve considered is to offer custom-made clothing for trans people, or indeed others who struggle to find clothes that fit – with an emphasis on somewhere safe for trans folk to approach with clothing needs.

In the meantime, I’ve had to apply for other work to make up the shortfall, so when I do start work I’ll have less time. So, if you’d like something made, now’s a good time to ask!
